Join us for 2025 Summer Book Clubs starting Saturday June 21st! Meet with other women 3 times this summer (June 21st, July 19th & August 16th) discuss one of these 3 books:
- “Sensible Shoes,” by Sharon Garbough Brown. This Summer Book Club will be led by Janine Kramer. Four Strangers, One Retreat Center, A Story of Transformation Sharon Garlough Brown tells the moving story of four strangers as they embark together on a journey of spiritual formation: Hannah, a pastor who doesn’t realize how exhausted she is. Meg, a widow and recent empty-nester who is haunted by her past. Mara, a woman who has experienced a lifetime of rejection and is now trying to navigate a difficult marriage. Charissa, a hard-working graduate student who wants to get things right.
You’re invited to join these four women as they reluctantly arrive at a retreat center and find themselves drawn out of their separate stories of isolation and struggle and into a collective journey of spiritual practice, mutual support and personal revelation. Along the way, readers will find:- Key spiritual practices that they can take into their own lives,
- A cast of characters that any reader can find themselves in, and
- Tangible support for the deeper life with God.
- “Growing Together,” by Melissa B. Kruger. This Summer Book Club will be led by Sandra Garman. Taking Mentoring Beyond Small Talk and Prayer Requests. We need one another. Yet we don’t always know how to develop relationships that help us grow in the Christian life. Spiritual mentoring offers a way for younger believers and more mature Christians to grow together through intentional discipleship and accountability. If you’re looking for a place to start, Melissa Kruger presents a guide for discipleship conversations that span a variety of topics for spiritual growth. Each lesson encourages both mentor and mentee to focus on the hope of the gospel as they learn together from the truth of God’s word.
- “Worthy,” by Elyse Fitzpatrick & Eric Schumacher. This Summer Book Club will be led by Shelanie Voorheis. Embrace a Transformative and Empowering View of Your Maker, Yourself, and the Church. Beginning from Genesis and working all the way through the storyline of the Bible, Worthy demonstrates the significant and yes, even surprising, ways that God has used women to accomplish His kingdom goals. Because, like men, they are created in His image, their lives reflect and declare His worth. Worthy will enable and encourage women to embrace this true and lofty vision of God’s creation, plan, and their value in His eyes. Worthy will help every reader see the value, place, and calling of women through study questions and a “Digging Deeper” section that will help women discover how to cherish, value, and honor one another for God’s glory.
